Beechworth Community Christmas Lunch

The Beechworth Community Christmas Lunch is an annual event for people from the Beechworth and surrounding communities to attend.

The idea is that people who want to share Christmas Day with others in their community have the opportunity to do so.

The event is organised by a committee made up of local volunteers, community organisations and Beechworth Health Service.

The lunch is a great example of local individuals, business, schools and community and welfare organisations working together. It is this collaboration that makes the event a success.

If you, a friend or a family member would like to attend the lunch, please RSVP to Beechworth Health Service by the first week of December.

Heart Foundation Walking Group

The Heart Foundation Walking Group leaves from the old Beechworth Post Office (cr Ford St & Camp st) every Friday morning at 10am providing a weekly opportunity for people to improve their health and fitness and to connect with other members of our community.

The group is open to walkers of all fitness levels.

Changing Minds Carer Support Group

The Changing Minds Carer Support Group is an informal, social group of people who care for family members or friends who are experiencing memory loss or living with a diagnosis of dementia.

The group began as an initiative driven by local people when Beechworth became a Dementia Friendly Town. Since then the group has grown in experience and respect in providing a solid grounding of support by shared experience, education and knowledge. Under the BHS Volunteer Strategy, the group is guided by volunteer carers with first-hand experience of travelling the journey of Dementia.

BHS supports the work of the Carer Support Group and provides a venue for the group to meet.

The group works together with Dementia Australia and local allied health professionals to provide a comprehensive base from which carers can best manage their situation.

The group meet from 10:30am to 12.00pm, every fourth Wednesday of the month in the Primary Health Meeting room at BHS – enter via reception.

Contact the BHS Community Engagement Officer to find out more.
