Do you enjoy meeting people? Are you interested in active community involvement? Do you have time to share with others? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then volunteering at Beechworth Health Service could be an option for you.
The essential elements of volunteering include providing a service to the community because you want to, without monetary reward. Volunteering is all about gaining a sense of satisfaction by helping others and having fun at the same time. It’s also a valuable opportunity to learn new and important life skills.
Volunteers from the community are currently needed in all program areas of the Health Service, particularly as ‘visiting friends’ for our residents, many of whom are lonely and have little contact with the community in which they live. If you are able to spare even half an hour now and then to be a companion for someone, to have a chat, to walk or wheel our residents, to help with craft activities or bus outings, or just to listen, then..............................
