| Stringybark Lodge provides support and assistance to those people who are frail and or have a dementing illness without significant behavioral challenge. The program is staffed by personal care workers who have undertaken a short course in assisting people with meals, personal hygiene, etc.
Prospective residents must have a current aged care assessment on a "Aged Care Client Record" form (commonly referred to as a "3020") undertaken by an aged care assessment service (ACAS). The aged client record form must identify the need for low care and be less than 12 months old.
Applicants provide this form to Beechworth Health Service prior to being placed on our waiting list for admission. All permanent clients are required to enter into a legal agreement prior to admission. We are happy to provide prospective clients with a copy of the legal agreement in advance of admission so that they have an opportunity to seek legal advice.
Fees are applicable and permenant clients may be required to pay an accommodation bond. All prospective residents must undertake an assessment by Centrelink to assist in determining fees and whether an accommodation bond is required.
A Respite service affords carers the opportunity for a rest and clients a change of scenery and social contact. An aged care client record form is required but must indicate respite low care. Respite bookings need to be made in advance. These are for blocks of two weeks or multiples of two weeks.
The focus of care following admission is on quality of life and assistance to participate in activities of daily living as well as to enjoy their hobbies and general interests.
All accommodation is in single rooms with ensuites. Fifty percent of rooms have a shared ensuite.
